Fernweh Wednesdays: Tour de France

CYCLING TOUR DE FRANCE 2007

Thanks to a good friend, I have been following the Tour de France for some years now.

Here in Australia it screens in the middle of the night and I often stay up late. I enjoy the combination of cycling and beautiful scenery – I remember hearing that a lot of people plan their France holidays based on what they see on TV during Le Tour!

But one of the highlights when watching cycling on SBS is the food: Gabriel Gaté’s daily explorations of French Cuisine along the cycling route: Taste Le Tour.

Even though I believe I can see more of Le Tour on the TV screen, I would love to be in France and see the riders whizzing past me on a mountain pass in the Alps some day… But for now, perfect for a cold winter night I might enjoy some French Onion Soup while sitting next to the fireplace…
